At Ahern Family of Companies, our roots run deep, our reach is wide, and our mission to contribute to the community longstanding. John P. and Martha Ahern started their first business in 1953 with the purchase of a filling station on the property where the Stratosphere stands today. They began renting equipment alongside the fuel business, and in 1958, Ahern Trailer & Equipment Rental was born.
The company grew into Ahern Renter’s Center in the 70s and, in 1978, their son Don saw a need in the construction industry, especially for high-reach equipment. He met that demand across Southern Nevada and California with his company, Los Arcos Equipment. In 1997, the two companies merged and Ahern Rentals was born.
Ahern Rentals has since grown into the largest independently-owned equipment company in North America, but no matter how big the company gets, the Ahern Rentals family’s small business values of exceptional and personal customer service, genuine concern for employees, and service to community are at the heart of it all.
